TED Talk on Brain Health in Menopause

Well worth a watch this TED Talk by a neuroscientist on the changes in the brain post menopause. Did you know women are twice as likely than men to have Alzheimer's disease leading to dementia?

Women's brains age differently. Estrogen is key for energy production in the brain - it pushes neurons to burn glucose to make energy. When estrogen declines then neurons slow down and age faster and can lead to amyloid plaque production (Alzheimer's); the hypothalamus can't regulate body temperature - hot flashes, the brain stem is affected - crap sleep, and energy slows - makes you think you've gone crackers.

Watch it for more nuggets about how lifestyle can help. Get enough sleep, regular exercise, eat whole foods.
